Here is the video of our recent summer event at Luton Millennium that captures some of the fun had on the day and talks about Arches Local, our Community space and we even threw in some of the things that happened at our 2017 event. We hope you enjoy watching it.
It was a beautiful hot sunny day for our annual Arches Local Summer Event at Luton Millennium Green on Saturday, July 7th 2018.
There was entertainment provided from Applause Rural Touring company with The Playground of Illusions and Fred and Froojamaflip, a living fruit and vegetable man
On Thursday 28th of June, we had our EqualiTeas event at the Arches it was a great day there were lots of interesting discussions, Tea drunk and cakes consumed. We played lots of board games and the Arches Local Coordinator was crowned the Snakes and Ladders champion 😉 Thank you to all those that came and made it such a special and memorable afternoon!
On Saturday 14th of April we held our Easter event at Luton Millennium Green it was a fantastic day and the weather was nice too!
There were lots to do on the day including Boxing, Football, Creating Easter Bunnies, and Easter Egg Hunt and lots more.
It was our best ever attended event and we gathered lots of community research for our Big Local plan and Neighbourhood planning.
Here at the Arches, we have been busy being creative with Social Art on a Tuesday morning and Community Art on a Wednesday morning.
After having to postpone our original date due to #Snowmageddon ❄️ we all descended on Luton Millennium Green last Friday 23rd March with friends including teachers and pupils from Victory Academy and our Community Warden from Medway Council.
The sunshine ☀️ made an appearance and it was a really enjoyable day where together we cleared over 10 black bags of rubbish, created some #Litterheroes masks and some fantastic memories. Of course, we also had a good chat and shared what we knew about the area.
We then dropped off on Monday some Easter Eggs and Bunnies to say thank you to the Victory Academy pupils for helping out.
In the New Year, we had Darren from 1staidfire come in and he did some Pediatric First Aid training with local residents.
The course comprised of two days of training. The first day comprised of a question and answer workshop as well as talking about personal experiences. We talked about what should be included in a basic first aid kit and used our knowledge to see what we knew! The outcomes were very impressive.
The second day was hands-on practical with the use of a dummy to practice CPR as well as a simulated choking scenario. We also administered bandages as well as learning about the different medical equipment we may come across when working with adults and children. This included EPI-pens, asthma inhalers and diabetic insulin pens, just to name a few.
