Thanks to our partners and Medway Go, our Fit & Fed programme this summer was a huge success and one of our busiest ever! Our four weeks were jam packed with everything from paddle boarding to US Open-style tennis competition and even cake decorating for local young people.

Unlike last summer, this time around we ran a single session everyday taking us from 10:00 till 2:00. Despite varying extremes in the weather, we were running at full capacity most days.

It was a pleasure to have Miles Irving again at Fit & Fed who introduced a different group of young people every Wednesday to the world of foraging. Miles Irving is an internationally renowned wild foods expert, author, and public speaker. He has worked with some of the world’s best chefs and has been a pioneer in the Wild Food Renaissance.

Thanks to our Big Local funding, a kind donation from Copperhouse Adventure Training and the support of Street Games, we were pleased to be back at Chatham Maritime Watersports Centre taking part in kayaking and paddle boarding.

A huge thank you to all those children, parents, carers, coaches, artists, school staff, our fantastic volunteers, Nucleus Arts, Mrs Bakers Medway Theatre Company, Olympia Boxing CIC, Morrisons (Walderslade) and Gillingham Street Angels who we couldn’t have done without and really made it a summer not to forget! See you all in October when Fit & Fed will be back at Luton Primary School, Chatham.

Below are a handful of photographs to document some of the fun we had.
