Luton Arches, New Sketches of opportunities for improvements.
We like to share these sketches shown at the recent open day they are as before to provoke discussion and not any final plans. So please share your thoughts and opinions.
There has already been some positive change down at the Luton Arches since the last sketch we hope these will be a catalyst to further improvements.

These sketches look amazing! I’ve always wondered why the council were doing nothing about the open,misused spaces under the bridge and the surrounding areas which has a lot of scope to look beautiful and be turned into an asset. Luton Arches could do with a major face lift by turning disused spaces into inviting,pleasant spaces with a bit of landscaping done to it. This, I hope, will be the first step to making Luton less depressing and more appealing. Best wishes!
It looks very impressive but under the arches instead of advertising hoardings how about some graffiti art or proper art that could be protected by a plastic cover, or a mural of the history of the Luton area.
Hi Keith thank you for your comments, from our recent meeting with Network Rail about improvements needed at the Luton Arches. We discussed putting art/mural within the Arches. They were very positive and supportive of this idea and they spoke of things done in similar areas i.e healthy eating recipes painted within similar arches. We love the idea of having a Mural of the history of the Luton Area though we might need a bigger arch to fit it all in ! So watch out for something being done within the arches next year !
Any improvement to Luton Arches would be good. The Arches have been an eyesore since the fifties and probably before. It does nothing for the area but could be made a feature with some clever design.
The night time picture still looks like there are going to be lots of very dark “scary” areas which are off putting to lots
Hi Victoria thank you for your comments it was not our intention to give the impression of “lots of very dark scary areas”. We believe the nighttime sketch highlights the lack of lighting currently under the arches or around the center roundabout by placing lighting there i.e strip lighting under the arches. We will definitely take your comments on board though and thank you again for them.
