First Aid @ the Arches
In the New Year, we had Darren from 1staidfire come in and he did some Pediatric First Aid training with local residents.
The course comprised of two days of training. The first day comprised of a question and answer workshop as well as talking about personal experiences. We talked about what should be included in a basic first aid kit and used our knowledge to see what we knew! The outcomes were very impressive.
The second day was hands-on practical with the use of a dummy to practice CPR as well as a simulated choking scenario. We also administered bandages as well as learning about the different medical equipment we may come across when working with adults and children. This included EPI-pens, asthma inhalers and diabetic insulin pens, just to name a few.
