Old Maps and Allotments !

We thought people would be interested to see how the Arches Local and surrounding area looked in the past we noted that there were a lot more allotments and green spaces around.

If you don't know history, then you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree.

International Credit Union (ICU) Day® has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948. The day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement's history and to promote its achievements. It is a day to honor those who have dedicated their lives to the movement, recognize the hard work of those working in the credit union industry and show members our appreciation.
The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the great work that credit unions are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more involved. Credit unions and associations throughout the world celebrate the day with fundraisers, open houses, contests, picnics and parades.

Luton Arches, Inital Sketch

Luton Arches, Initial Sketch of opportunities for improvements.
We like to share this sketch it is to provoke discussion and not any final plans. So please share your thoughts and opinions.

We would like the final sketches to be the catalyst for us to drive a community clear up of the area in partnership with Medway Council and Network Rail. Leading we hope to large scale regeneration of the area.

They always say time changes things with Luton Arches it would not be for the best, but sometimes we have to help things change for the better.

Chatham Neighbourhood PostCard Project

Cabinet of Curiosity Studio a local visual art, design & architecture partnership have designed a postcard unique to the Luton area of Chatham that asks local residents to share what they love about their neighbourhood. The postcard features the architecture of the railway arches that marks the gateway to the Luton district and Chatham; magpies that connect to the geographical location through street names, pub signs and the birds themselves that are a common sight in this town; and a design that draws upon vintage postcards.

Magpie Centre and Community Cafe Opens !

The former Magpie Tavern has undergone a £500,000 conversion and been transformed into a hub for everyone in the Arches Local area of the town.
Even the beer garden has been transformed - it is now a vegetable patch where produce is grown to be used in the centre’s cafe.
Spurred by a £300,000 grant from the Diocese of Rochester, which bought the pub building from the brewery in 2011, the project was led by neighbouring St Paul’s with All Saints’ Church.
