What a great day we all had on Saturday 9th July the community came together and for the price of answering some simple questions got to eat and take part in all the Arches Local activities and more.
We started to get ready early in the day to be honest we were a little nervous thinking would anyone would turn up with so much else going on at the weekend with the Kent Show and River Festival !
Fears soon melted away it got busy really quick and the community enjoyed each other company the entire day, the children played, the weather was great, the whole day had such a relaxed feel to it. We estimate from the number of tickets we gave out for the hog roast that we had well over 200 people attend over the day, we managed together to totally devour a 68 kilo pig in under 4 hours all that was left was a few mushroom burgers.
On the day things on offer included Medway Council delivering free dog chipping
Kent police and the Community Safety partnership Team offering advice, Kids really enjoyed getting in the police car and turning on the Lights..
Medway Youth Trust New Horizons project were in attendance and did among many things a popular penalty shoot out competition.
Aspire parent group (Surestart) had a children clothes and toy stall, Allsaints Community Project sold crafted jewelry Stall, Naomi a local resident was selling glitter glasses and photo frames and some home made hair bands, and lots more. Turning Point had a stand giving advice on drinking, Hogs and Kisses provided us with a delicious hog roast though the pig had to hide inside the van as it was a little windy !
The Magpie Growers did some planting which you all got to take home and made salad paper face plates the Kids loved it though I was rebuilding a few faces at the bottom of the hill when a child took the cling film off..
Entertainment was from Music for Change, the children tried there skills at plate spinning and other things, everyone had a go..
and not forgetting our wonderful Face painter who worked tirelessly throughout the day with among many great works of art Snow leopards, Superman and Batman…
Many commented on how much you liked what we had done with the pocket park and some took time to try out the new natural play stuff we had just installed..
We have one lonely prize that was uncollected on the day from our free raffle we hope the winners who collected there prizes on the day enjoy them!
Thank you all for answering our questions at our washing line we not looked through them all yet but we will report back on them and use them to form part of our year 2 plan ! We loved all the ideas you drew us for our bench and we will share them all with you soon in anticipation of creating the bench together in August.
